It’s the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, shown in the photo above. 3.529,6 km/h is the record from 28. July, 1976.
Compared to the Space Shuttle Columbia’s record, 28.000 km/h, it’s not very fast. Colombia have the fastest manually controlled flight in atmosphere during atmospheric reentry of STS-2 mission.
Columbia flew 28 missions, gathering 300.74 days spent in space with 4,808 orbits and a total distance of 125,204,911 miles (201,497,772 km) up until STS-107.
Columbia was destroyed at about 09:00 EST on February 1, 2003 while re-entering the atmosphere after a 16-day scientific mission.
